Switchman Pen Company Bottled Ink (35ml) - War Bonnet: Illustrious Orange (Fountain Pen Day Edition)

Fountain Pen Day 2026 ink: Warbonnet, in Illustrious Orange. On February 17th, 1937, Leland A. Knickerbocker swept a single band of crimson across the nose of a Santa Fe diesel, and the Warbonnet was born, soon to be widely described as the most recognized railway livery in North America. Illustrious Orange is our tribute to that one brushstroke: a bold, blazing orange with a deep red heart, the color of a Southwest sky as an October sunset burns down toward the desert.

Switchman inks prioritize dry speed over permanence and will dry rapidly even when used in very wet pens. They will resist feathering on highly absorbent papers (printer paper, for example) and are tuned to minimize dry-in while still within pens. Switchman inks shade beautifully and many boast color variation the more thickly they are applied.

As a special note from Switchman Co.: "We recommend that you use the broadest and wettest pens you can find to bring out the stunning range this ink is capable of. You won't regret it!"
